GOV’T MULE
Dirty old school, improvised jammy blues, with some “close your eyes and get transported to another dimension” side of rock is what you’ll be thinking after viewing a Gov’t Mule show for the first time.
If you don’t know anything about this funky hodgepodge genred band, I recommend that you take a moment to learn a thing or two about them. Starting as a side project almost 32 years ago, Gov’t Mule has grown to become known as one of the greatest live rock acts of its generation. The best way to develop a true appreciation for a musician and their work is by witnessing the mastery of a jam band. Watching them live, you get to witness first-hand the dedication to their craft through the emotionally raw nature of their jam.
Featuring Warren Haynes as guitar & vocals, Matt Abts on the drums, Danny Louis on the keyboards and Kevin Scott on bass, Gov’t Mule started their 2-hour set with “Railroad Boy”, brought Larkin Poe up to perform “I Shall Be Released” and ended the evening with their popular song “Blind Man In The Dark”.

LARKIN POE
Gritty, modern Rock n’ Roll meets a small white church on a hill overlooking tall prairie grass, stagecoaches, bandits, and that old liminal western feel, otherwise known as American roots and blues rock. This sister duo, Rebecca and Megan Lovell, named after their great-great-great-great-grandfather, have a way of making you want to get up, tap your foot, and maybe start a rebellion. At first, they might seem like an interesting pick as the opener for Gov’t Mule, but their gravely new-aged southern sound is a solid compliment to the old school jammy feels of Gov’t Mule.
Larkin Poe features Rebecca Lovell as lead vocals on the electric guitar, and Megan Lovell as harmony vocals on the lap steel. They kicked the night off with an upbeat, fast-paced song that captures their semi-country/rock, gritty, rough sound, “Nowhere Fast”, featured on their most recent album, “Bloom” (2025). Complete Set List:
Nowhere fast
Mockingbird
Sumertime Sunset
Bluephoria
Preachin’ Blues
(Vamp) Royal Express
Strike Gold
Bad Spell
Blue Ridge Mountains
Bolt Cutters
